In Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you can create a template to use when you are creating a new job. You can reuse phases and estimates from previous jobs as the template for future projects. You can then create and customize a library of job templates as needed.

You can create a new job by taking an existing job, copying it, and saving the copy as a template.

To copy a job to create a template from an existing job

  1. In the Search box, enter Jobs, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Home tab, in the New group, choose New to create a template. Provide the following information:

    No.: <template number or name>

    Description: <template description>

    Bill-to Customer No.: <template customer placeholder>

    Blocked: Set to All.

Provide as much other information as is necessary or useful. Choose the OK button.

  3. On the Actions tab, in the Functions group, choose Copy Job.

  4. In the Copy Job window, select the job and task lines that you want to copy from and to.

Setting Source to Job Planning Lines means that estimates are based on the planned values from the source job. Setting Source to Job Ledger Entry means that estimates are based on the actual values from the source job.

For more information, see Copy Job.

Choose the OK button to copy the job, and then choose the OK button to close the confirmation window.
