If you would like to define tools to be used in maintenance activities and/or associate a cost with the use of tools, use this form to create and maintain information about your tools. The tools card is divided into two sections; they are the General Tab and the Cost Tab. Under the general tab you will find reference information about the tool.

If the tool is found in the table, the current value of the tool will be placed in the Total Cost field (below). If this field is left unchecked or no tool is found in the Fixed Assets table, no value will be placed in the Tool Cost field.

Tool Cost – The value in this field may be manually entered or retrieved from the Fixed Assets table (described above).

Maintenance Proportion – Using the value in the Tool Cost, this field is used as a percentage multiplier to calculate the Proportioned Tool Cost (below) field. The valid range of numeric values in this field is 100 to 0.01.

Proportioned Tool Cost – This field contains the result of the multiplication of the Tool Cost field by the Maintenance Proportion field divided by 100.

Use Charge Multiplier – With an established Proportioned Tool Cost, the value in this field will be used to calculate, by multiplication, the value to populate the Tool Use Charge. The valid range of numeric values in this field is 100 to 0.01.

Tool Use Charge – The value in this field is used to cost a work activity when this tool is used and is the result of the multiplication of the Proportioned Tool Cost field by the Use Charge Multiplier field divided by 100.
