Open the Consumable Card window.

Consumables may be created or maintained via this Main Menu option. When the Items option is selected on the Main Menu, TAG will present the standard Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV Item Card. Only Consumables are discussed in this User Guide. For further information about Items, please refer to documentation on Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV.

There are three options available for use under the Inventory section of main menu that are relevant to Consumables. The first menu option is Consumables which provides user access to the Consumable Card for viewing, entry or change. The next is Statistics which allows users to view the Statistics on a Consumable or Item without first accessing the appropriate card. Thirdly, is the ability to copy a Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV Item to create a Consumable and is accessed through the Copy Navision Item option.

Consumable General Tab

No. – The value in this field is either a user entered number or a system generated number for the inventory item established in TAG. It becomes the identifier and the "key" for the inventory item throughout the TAG applications and database.

Description - A meaningful description should be assigned for each Consumable established in TAG. As searches may be performed for a Consumable by No. or by Description, some thought should be given to how you will describe the Consumables.

Description 2 – Use this field to continue the description of the Consumable when they require descriptive information that is larger than will fit in the Description field.

Navision Default Location – The location code established in Navision for the Consumable.

Navision Qty On Hand – The quantity on hand for the Navision Default Location.

Qty on Planned Orders – The total quantity for this Consumable found on all Planned Orders.

Qty on Released Orders – The total quantity for the Consumable found on all Released Orders.

Effective Quantity – The value in this field is the found by subtracting from the Navision Qty On Hand, the Qty on Planned Orders and the Qty on Released Orders.

Search Description – While you may search using the item Description or by entering the Consumable No., the Search Description field allows you to establish a string of "words" to expedite locating the Consumable in TAG. In this field, enter any combination of letters, symbols, numbers or other values that are meaningful to you and will assist in finding the item.

Unit of Measure Code – Define the unit of measure applicable to this Consumable.

Item Category Code – Use this field to establish the item category for this Consumable.

Product Group Code - Use this field to establish the product group for the Consumable.

Class - Use this field to establish the product class for this Consumable.

Shelf No. - Use this field to record the Shelf Number for this Consumable.

Statistical Group - Use this field to establish the statistical group value.

Last Date Modified – The date the Consumable Card was last updated.

Work Procedures – This drillable field is the number of Work Procedures to which this Consumable is assigned.

Assigned Templates – This drillable field is the number of Templates to which this Consumable is assigned.

Inventory Policies – This drillable field is the number of Inventory Policy Cards to which this Consumable is assigned.

Date Meter Policies – This drillable field is the number of Date Meter Policy Cards to which this Consumable is assigned.

Consumable Source Tab

OSP No. – Use this field to identify the Outside Service Provider from whom this Consumable was acquired. A look up feature is provided when adding OSPs to the Consumable.

OSP Item No. – If the OSP uses a different number to identify this Consumable, record that number here.

Manufacturer Code – Enter or select from a list, the manufacturer code for this Consumable.

Country of Origin Code – Enter or select from a list, the country code from which this Consumable originates.

Navision Vendor – Enter or select from a list, the Navision Vendor code from which this Consumable is purchased.

Gross Weight – Used for information purposes only by TAG, use this field to define the gross weight of the Consumable.

Net Weight – Used for information purposes only by TAG, use this field to define the net weight of the Consumable.

Consumable Cost Tab

Get Navision Cost – The action of clicking this check box will cause TAG to retrieve the current value of the Consumable (by using the No. key) from the Navision Item table. If the Consumable No. is found in the table, the current value of the Item will be placed in the Purchase Cost field (below). If this field is left unchecked or no Item is found in the Navision table, no value will be placed in the Purchase Cost field.

Purchase Cost – The value in this field may be entered manually or retrieved from the Navision Inventory table (described above).

Overhead Multiplier – Using the value in the Purchase Cost, the value in this field is used as a multiplier to calculate the Cost When Consumed (below) field.

Cost When Consumed – If a value is present in this field and no value is present in the Cost Override (below) field, it is used to cost a work activity when this Consumable is used to perform a maintenance activity.

Cost Override – If a value is present in this field, it is used to cost a work activity when the Consumable is used to perform a maintenance activity.

Use Navision Cost – When the Consumable is attached to a Work Order, the Work Order is Posted and if this option is active, TAG will use the cost from Navision when populating the Item Journal.

Consumable Button

By clicking the Consumable button at the bottom of the Card, a drop down selection list appears. Select the option from the list to proceed to that function. The List option provides a listing of all Consumables established in TAG.

The Dimensions option allows you to define the dimensions associated with the Consumable.

Dimensions

Statistics (usage) on the Consumables defined in TAG are kept and accessible via the drop down selection list on the Consumables Card or by pressing F9 when on the Consumables Card. Each time a Consumable is used in the performance of maintenance activities, the Consumable Cost When Consumed (or Cost Override) is captured when the Work Order is completed.

Consumable Statistics

First Finished Date – The date of the first Finished Work Order recorded in TAG that utilized this Consumable.

Last Finished Date – The date of the last Finished Work Order recorded in TAG that utilized this Consumable.

Elapsed Months – The number of months between the First Finished Date and The Last Finished Date.

Finished Work Orders – The number of work orders that were finished between the First Finished Date and the Last Finished Date that utilized this Consumable.

Average WO Per Month – This value is the Total Finished Orders divided by Elapsed Months.

Finished WO Costs – Using the Cost When Consumed (or Cost Override) this field represents the sum of all usages of this Consumable.

Average Cost Per WO – Finished Order Costs is divided by the Elapsed Months to calculate this value.

Average Cost Per Month – This value is calculated by dividing the Total Finished Orders by the Elapsed Months.

Planned WO Costs, Released WO Costs and Activities Est. Costs – The estimated cost associated with current Planned Orders, Released Orders, Date Meter or Inventory Policies.

Finished Order Quantity – Represents the total units of usage for this Consumable.

Average Quantity Per Month – This value is calculated by dividing Finished Order Quantity by Elapsed Months.

When the Ledger Entries option is selected under the Consumable drop down button, the result is a list of all usage entries for the Consumable. These ledger entries are used to calculate the Statistics for the Consumable.

Consumable Ledger Entries

Use the Availability function to view the effective quantity by location of the Consumable. The quantity shown by location is calculated in TAG by subtracting Consumable quantity on Planned Orders and the quantity on Released Orders from the Navision quantity for the Location.

Consumable Availability by Facility (Non NAV)

Facility – The names of all Facilities defined in TAG.

NAV Location – The NAV Location used for each Facility.

Available Quantity – Based on NAVs standard (see NAV documentation for further details and definition), the Quantity of Inventory available for use.

Qty on Date Meter Policies – The total Related Requirements Expected Quantity on all Date Meter Policies.

No. Date Meter Policies – The count of Date Meter Policies where used in Related Requirements.

Qty on Templates – The quantity for this item found on all Templates.

No. Templates – The number of Templates containing this inventory.

Consumable Availability by Facility (NAV Item Exits)

Facility – The names of all Facilities defined in TAG.

NAV Location – The NAV Location used for each Facility.

Available Quantity – Based on NAVs standard (see NAV documentation for further details and definition), the Quantity of Inventory available for use.

Allocations – The total usage expressed on all Released Orders, Planned Orders and Pending Approval Orders for the Item by each Facility. Total usage is calculated by adding together the Expected Quantity or Actual Quantity if present for all Related Requirements by Facility.

Effective Quantity – By subtracting Allocations from Available Quantity Effective Quantity is calculated for each Facility.

Qty on Date Meter Policies – The total Related Requirements Expected Quantity on all Date Meter Policies.

No. Date Meter Policies – The count of Date Meter Policies where used in Related Requirements.

Qty on Templates – The quantity for this item found on all Templates.

No. Templates – The number of Templates containing this inventory.
